DoseRightRN ("the app", "we", "us") is a dosage-calculation practice app for nursing students,
published by SmartNurseTech and available on iOS (Apple App Store) and Android (Google Play).
This policy explains what information the app handles, why, and the choices you have. We do
not require an account, and we do not ask for your name, email, or other directly identifying
personal information.
What changed in this version
We now save the answers you submit, linked to your device identifier.
You can send feedback on a question. Any comment you write is checked by AI services.
We keep saved answers and feedback for 24 months, then delete them.
Our server is moving from Cloudflare to Google Cloud and PlanetScale in the U.S.
Information we handle
Device identifier.
The app uses an identifier for your install: on iOS, Apple's identifier for vendor (IDFV);
on Android, the Android ID. If neither is available, the app creates a random identifier
(UUID) and stores it on your device. The app sends this identifier to our server so your
practice progress, streaks, and daily usage limits stay consistent. It is not linked to your
name or email and cannot, on its own, identify you. It is not the advertising identifier.
Server requests.
Each time the app talks to our server, it sends the device identifier and your device's time
zone, so your daily rounds reset at your local midnight. Newer app versions also send the app
version and platform (iOS or Android).
Practice and usage data.
Quiz activity, streaks, and daily round counts associated with the device identifier, used to
operate features such as progress tracking and the daily free-rounds limit.
Recorded answers.
When you finish a round, the app sends your results to our server. We save each answer you
submit: which question it was, whether it was correct, the value you entered, when we
received it, and your app version. Later app versions will also send how long you took to
answer. Answers are linked to your device identifier, not to your name or email. We save
answers only after the app has shown you the notice for this version of the policy and you
tapped Continue. We use them to measure how hard each question is, to find and fix
questions that are wrong or unclear, and to improve the app.
Question feedback.
After a question's answer is shown, you can rate the question with a thumbs up or thumbs
down. With a thumbs down you can pick a reason and write an optional comment of up to 500
characters. Feedback is linked to your device identifier. We use it to find and fix bad
questions. To sort comments, we send the comment text to AI model providers through
OpenRouter, a service that routes requests to those providers. Please do not put your
name, contact details, or any patient information in a comment.
Policy notice record.
When you tap Continue on an in-app notice about a change to these terms or this policy, we
save which version you saw and when, linked to your device identifier.
Product analytics.
We use PostHog to understand how the app is used and to improve it. Analytics events (for
example, screens and onboarding steps viewed, rounds completed, and paywall or notification
interactions) are linked to the device identifier and include basic device and app
information: platform, operating-system version, device model, screen size, language/locale,
time zone, and app version. We do not collect your device's user-assigned name.
Optional onboarding answers.
During onboarding you may choose to tell us your nursing program type and how you heard
about the app. These answers are optional, stored with the device identifier, and used to
tailor and improve the app.
Advertising identifiers.
The app shows ads, including optional rewarded ads, through Google AdMob. On iOS, AdMob may
access your device's advertising identifier (IDFA) only if you grant the App
Tracking Transparency permission. On Android, AdMob may use the Android advertising ID
subject to your device settings and, where required (for example, in the EEA and UK), the
consent you give through Google's consent form. If you decline, you still see ads, but
non-personalized ones.
Notifications.
If you allow notifications, the app schedules streak reminders locally on your device. We do
not need your push token to send them.
Subscription status.
If you purchase the optional DoseRight Pro subscription, Apple or Google processes the
payment and RevenueCat (our subscription provider) reports your subscription status to the
app so Pro features can be unlocked. We never receive your payment-card details.
How we use information
To operate practice features, progress tracking, streaks, and the daily usage limit.
To check and improve our questions: measure how hard they are, and find and fix ones that
are wrong or unclear (recorded answers and question feedback).
To measure and improve the app (product analytics).
To display ads (personalized only with your consent; otherwise non-personalized) and to
grant extra rounds when you complete a rewarded ad.
To send streak reminders you have allowed.
To enable and restore the optional DoseRight Pro subscription.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share recorded answers or
question feedback with advertisers, and we do not use them to track you across other
companies' apps or websites.
App store privacy labels
In our App Store and Google Play privacy labels, recorded answers and question feedback are
listed as product interaction data (Google Play calls it "app interactions"). They are linked
to your device identifier and are not used for tracking.
Where your data is stored
Our server runs on Google Cloud (Cloud Run), and its database is hosted by PlanetScale
(Postgres). Both are in the United States. Until our move from Cloudflare is complete, our
server runs on Cloudflare. Like most online services, our hosting providers may log technical
data such as IP addresses to deliver and protect the service.
How long we keep data
Recorded answers and question feedback: kept for 24 months after we receive
them, then deleted.
Other server data (device identifier, time zone, daily round counts,
streaks, and policy notice records): kept while needed to run the app's features, or until
you ask us to delete it.
Analytics, ads, and subscription data held by PostHog, Google, and RevenueCat follow those
providers' own retention rules and our settings with them.
Third-party services
The app relies on these providers, each with its own privacy policy:
Ad tracking (iOS).
Manage the App Tracking Transparency permission anytime in iOS
Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
Ad personalization (Android).
Reset or delete your advertising ID in Android Settings → Privacy → Ads (wording
may vary by device).
Ad privacy options.
Where applicable, the app's home screen shows an "Ad Consent Options" link to review your
ad-privacy choices.
Notifications.
Turn streak reminders off anytime in the app under Settings → Streak reminders, or
in your device's notification settings.
Question feedback.
Feedback is always optional. If you don't want to send it, don't tap the thumbs up or down.
Subscription.
Manage or cancel DoseRight Pro in iOS Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions, or on
Android in Google Play → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions.
Delete your data.
Email us to ask us to delete the server data linked to your device, including recorded
answers and feedback. Include the device ID shown in the app under
Settings → Device ID so we can find your data.
Reset.
Deleting the app removes the data stored in the app. On Android, the Android ID usually
stays the same if you reinstall. On iOS, the identifier for vendor changes after you remove
every app from the same publisher.
U.S. state privacy rights
Depending on your state, you may have rights to access or delete information associated with
your device identifier. Because we do not collect identifying personal information and do not
sell data, these requests are limited in scope. Contact us using the details below to make a
request.
Children's privacy
DoseRightRN is intended for nursing students and is not directed to children under 13. We do
not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Each version has its own effective date and its
own web address, and past versions stay available below. When we make a material change, the
app shows a notice that summarizes it.
