About this site

Editorial standards

Every page on this site is written by SmartNurseTech editorial, the team that builds the DoseRightRN app. This page explains what we cite, how we check the math, and what our pages are not.

Who writes the pages

Pages carry the byline "SmartNurseTech editorial". The team writes and edits every page before it is published. We do not have a licensed nurse, pharmacist, or physician reviewing each page, and we do not claim one. When a page explains a formula, it is the standard method taught in nursing dosage-calculation courses, and it cites where the method and any drug facts come from.

How examples are calculated

  • Worked examples use the same formulas and rounding rules as the DoseRightRN app: tablets and mL volumes to the tenths place, pump rates to a whole mL/hr, gravity drip rates to whole gtts/min, and pediatric doses to the hundredths place.
  • On new pages, every worked result is computed from those formulas when the site is built, so a typo can't change an answer.
  • Drug names, strengths, and doses in examples are for practice. They come from U.S. drug labeling, but they may not match what is right for a real patient.

What we cite

Pages cite their sources at the end. The ones we rely on most:

Exam names (NCLEX, ATI, HESI, Kaplan) are used only to describe what a page helps you study for. DoseRightRN is not affiliated with or endorsed by any exam maker.

Study use only

DoseRightRN is a study and practice tool. Nothing on this site is intended for use in patient care or to make real clinical dosing decisions. Always follow your institution's protocols and verify with a licensed professional.
